Using academic research and pupil data in education: opportunities, challenges and best practice

Glaziers Hall, 9 Montague Close, London SE1 9DD

Guest of Honour: Dr Kay Graham, Assistant Director, Teacher Quality Division, Teachers Group, Department for Education

This seminar will draw together the latest thinking around the use of data and academic research to improve educational outcomes.

Delegates will discuss how schools and local authorities can make best use of data to track pupil performance and plan interventions for under-performing groups. They will also look at how universities and schools can work together to increase teachers' engagement with academic research, following the Teaching and Learning Research programme (TLRP).

Further sessions will consider the role of Randomised Controlled Trials (RTCs) and the potential for a self-evaluating Royal College of Teaching. The use of Big Data in improving accountability in schools, including Ofsted's Data Dashboard tool, will also be considered.
