EIPPEE project partner meeting

The EPPI-Centre (Institute of Education) is hosting a meeting of 35 partners from 23 countries across Europe about the issue of evidence informed policy and practice in education in Europe.  This meeting is part of the recently successful bid to the European Commission.

We know a lot about what works in schools, but do we apply this in practice? How do we translate academic studies into practical applications for busy teachers? How do educators facing a difficult problem in a school, use the insights from research? How do policy makers facilitate this process?

Education Media Centre – Parliamentary reception and briefing event

Over the past few months, the team developing the EMC have consulted all parts of the education sector – policy makers, journalists, educationalists, researchers – and have received unanimous support for the proposals. 

Moving forward, we are now focusing on fundraising activities to get the EMC off the ground. To kick things off we are organising a briefing event in parliament on 22 November (6.30 – 8pm) to raise awareness around the EMC project. 

Evidence-based programmes: Breaking down barriers to effective implementation

Organised by the Social Research Unit at Dartington and the Institute for Effective Education at the University of York, this interactive half-day seminar will take place on:

Monday 26 March from 1pm until 5.30pm at London Living Room, City Hall, London  

Research, Policy & Practice: Redrawing the Boundaries

This event is being hosted by the National Education Trust and will look at effective collaboration between research and policymaking.

Baroness Estelle Morris will provide an insight on the relationship between research and policy and Professor Kathy Sylva will draw on the long-running EPPSE project (Effective Pre-School, Primary and Secondary Education) as an example. Organised as a half-day seminar and round-table event, it will take place on:
